Chicken CordonBleu by Paul Alley, Jr.

A kid friendly recipe

Hi, I'm Paul Alley, 13 years old about to turn 14. I like to cook, swim, playing the piano, and hanging out with friends. My technique for cooking is "cooking for kids". I mean by this is by taking recipies and changing some thing to make it kid(or teen) friendly, One of the most easy recipies is a Chicken Cordon Bleu.

Paul's Kid Friendly Chicken Cordon Bleu
 Boneless Chicken breast(bonless, skinless)
1/2 lb. of swiss cheese
1 lb. of ham(doesn't matter what kind)
2 cups Original bread crumbs
2 eggs
non stick spray

you will need...

glass casserole dish

First you will need to preheat the oven at 350 degrees F. then cut chicken into cubes or bite size pieces, then beat two eggs in a bowl and dunk chicken cubes in the egg mixture. Once your finished put them in a baggy. Add the bread crumbs to baggy and coat the chicken again with them. (shake and bake style) Then spray the casserole dish with non stick spray. Layer the bottom of the dish with ham, then cheese, then all the chicken, then you can layer it any way you want just make sure you leave 2-3 pieces of ham for the end! You want to finish with a little bit of cheese at the very end which makes a nice "presentation". With the last pieces of ham, cut into thin squares and sprinkle them on top of the chicken, then sprinkle the last of the cheese. Once that is done, put into preheated oven for 35-45 min. Check the chicken in the middle of the dish. If it is pink or red, it needs too cook longer.

I had the pleasure to meet Paul and his family and taste this dish he thoughtfully brought to a party of a mutual friend.  It made a wonderful appetizer when passed with toothpics and would also make a nice family meal served with rice  or pasta and a salad or other veggie.  The melted cheese fuses the ham to the individual chunks of chicken & it travelled very well .

I'll be posting a picture of Paul & his creation shortly....

Paul's Chicken Cordon Bleu was delicious and nutritious!  I was the hostess at the party where he presented this tasty dish and all my guests were the lucky recipients.  What little leftovers we had were excellent the next day, as the flavors blended together.  It was a real treat and easy to reheat!  Thank you Paul.  Next blog, post your cheescake recipe!

Wow Paul!  That dish looks like a winner and I'd also like to add it's great to see you in the kitchen, an inspiration to kid/teen wanna-be-cooks but don't know how to start!  I am looking forward to your cheesecake recipe and any other kitchen/cooking hints you may have up your sleeve.

Best "dishes" back  to you,

Sharon
